Iliad Design 1/72 Decals B-25B, C, D

Iliad Design has not previously released sheets of B-25s and they’ve gone for a pretty eclectic mix of 5 colourful decal schemes. They released this because of the recent release of a B-25 by Airfix which only has 2 decal options in the box.

The decal set arrived form Iliad decals in a stout cardboard envelope. The subjects of this sheet are:

  • B-25B 3rd Anti-sub Sqn. Westover Fiels, Mass. circa 1942
  • B-25C advanced trainer, Columbia South Carolina, 1942
  • B-25D 487th BS, 340th BG, Sicily 1943
  • B-25C Dobodura, New Guinea, 1943
  • B-25D 50TU, Boundary Bay, British Columbia 1945

The set contains just the aircraft specific decals and you would use any stencils from the kit you’re using. You will be able to make all 5 aircraft though – if you have 5 kits available!

The contents of this set are:

  • 1 double-sided colour sheet of instructions
  • 1 21 cm x 14 cm decal sheet

The instruction sheet is well done and covers everything you need to know. The front of the instruction sheet shows the port sides of all 5 aircraft and the starboard view of one of them too. There’s also a short description of them all. It names all the colours used as well as giving you individual details about each particular aircraft, such as the window that was painted over on one aircraft and the extra green blotches on the B-25C. Overall it shows a good level of research on the part of the publisher and shows you everything you need to know to get your painting perfectly accurate.

The decal sheets, as you can see in the photographs and the video, are perfectly in register, well detailed and the colours look good too. The backing film is minimal to non-existent except in places where it is needed to line things up in the text.

This set is available for $12.00 from Iliad Design’s site.

This is a very nice decal set with some attractive options for the Airfix B-25, or any other 1/72 B-25B to D for that matter.

Many thanks to Iliad Design for the review sample.
